Monday –  “Taste of Torah”

A fun and interactive afterschool program that explores the weekly Torah portion or Chagim through baking and cooking.

Sample Recipes:

  • Parshat Bereishit: Apple crisp (symbolizing the Tree of Knowledge)

  • Parshat Noach: Rainbow fruit salad (representing the rainbow after the Mabul)

Tuesday – “Fitness Frenzy”

Pre-K and Kindergarten will get moving and grooving with our after-school gym program! ‘Fitness Frenzy’ is a high-energy program for kids to stay active, build friendships, and develop teamwork skills. Our experienced coaches will lead the group in each session through a new and exciting physical activity, obstacle courses, and games like kickball and capture the flag. We’ll also focus on fundamental movement skills like running, jumping, and throwing. Not only will your child have a blast, but they’ll also develop coordination, balance, and overall fitness.

Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in Tenafly Chabad School. We're excited for you to join our family. Here's more information about our process after you apply.

Our applications for the early childhood division will open in early November. Our registration fee is $895 until December 15th, then $990 after that date for Early Childhood. Elementary and Middle School applications can be accepted through March, pending that we have space.

For Early Childhood: 

APPLY - Click Here to apply to Tenafly Chabad Preschool.  You will need:

  1. Recent photo of your child

  2. Any evaluations, IEPs, etc if applicable.

PARENT INTAKE MEETING - We will contact you to arrange a meeting with our Early Childhood Administrators so we can learn more about your child and start getting to know you. We welcome any questions you may have.

PAPERWORK- If applicable, please provide us with any evaluation reports, therapy progress reports, or IEP’s as part of the application or emailed to

LEARNING ABOUT YOUR CHILD- We will speak with your child’s current teachers, and/or observe him/her at his/her  current school so we can obtain feedback and collaborate.

NOTIFICATION & ENROLLMENT - You will receive an email confirming your child’s acceptance to Tenafly Chabad Preschool.

For Elementary and Middle School Grades 1-8:

APPLY- Click Here to apply to Tenafly Chabad Academy. You will need:

  1. Application fee of $180 

  2. Recent photo of your child 

  3. Recent report cards

  4. Any evaluations, IEPs, psychoeducational testing, if applicable.

AN OBSERVATION-  Once we confirm we have a spot for your child, we may, with your permission, arrange a visit to your child's current school so we can observe him/her in the most comfortable setting. We may also speak with your child's teacher so we can obtain feedback and collaborate.

 

PARENT INTAKE MEETING & STUDENT TESTING - You will meet with administrators involved in your child’s grade so we can get to know you better and answer any questions you might have. On the same day, your child will partake in a testing session to determine if our program is a good fit for your child and, should he/she enroll, what the appropriate placement is.

NOTIFICATION & ENROLLMENT - You will receive an email within one month after your intake date confirming your child’s acceptance to Tenafly Chabad Academy and will be sent information on how to enroll. 

A VISITATION – Your child can come spend some time at Tenafly Chabad Academy making new friends!

Extended
Care and Chugim

We offer extended care from 3:00-4:00pm, 3:00-4:50pm, or 3:00 to 5:30 pm Mondays through Thursdays. The After-Care is an annual program (September 2024 through June 2025). 

Aftercare is being offered for all preschool students from 18 months through Kindergarten.

Designed specifically for Pre-K and Kindergarten, this program takes young explorers on a journey through the world of art, introducing them to renowned artists and various mediums. In each session, the children will be guided through a new and exciting project, from painting like Pollock to sculpting like Clay to creating collages like Matisse. We’ll experiment with an array of materials, including paint, markers, crayons, clay, and more. Join us for a colorful and imaginative adventure that will spark a lifelong love of art!”

Thursday –  “Seasonal Explorers”

This program is geared toward developing an understanding of seasonal changes through activities and experiments including outdoor exploration! The program is designed to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills and promote socialization and teamwork.

Sample Sessions:

  • Leaf Exploration: Examine leaves, learn about types of trees, and create a leaf collage.

  • Apple Investigation: Explore the life cycle of apples, taste different varieties, and make a paper plate apple craft.

  • Animal Adaptations: Explore how animals adapt to winter, make a bird feeder, and learn about hibernation.

  • Planting Seeds: Plant seeds, learn about the growth cycle and create a mini-greenhouse.
